Offa's Dyke Path177 miles, 282 km, 14 days

National Trail

In two weeks time you can walk the almost 300 kilometer long border between England and Wales. Not much of a “Great Wall” really. Bits and pieces of the supposed defence of the 8th century Welsh King Offa are left. But you will enjoy a very varied landscapes: the floodplains of the Severn, the forests of the Wye Valley, the rugged Black Mountains, and the cozy book town Hay-on-Wye and the Brecon Beacons. Notorious on this route are the many styles you have to climb between the meadows. Good practise for our muscles, keep it at that.

The 177 miles, 282 km long trail starts at the seaside and ends at the seaside, inspiring some walkers to carry a bottle of seawater from Chepstow to Prestatyn.

The variety is a strong USP of this beloved trail. Each day is different from the one before, the shared denominator being the colour green. But that's true of Britain as a whole. Be sure to start in good shape, however, if you want to finish the trail in one go.
